Mimaki Engineering Co., Ltd. (Head office: Tomi-shi, Nagano, President: Kazuaki Ikeda), manufacturer of industrial inkjet printers, cutting plotters and 3D printers, releases compact flatbed UV inkjet printer models “UJF-3042MkII e”, “UJF-6042MkII e” and “UJF-3042MkII EX e”, respectively using LED-sourced UV irradiation to cure ink. The new printer products are scheduled to be available in the winter of 2021.
The three models have further improved image quality and machine stability, while maintaining the operability that was highly acclaimed in the current models "UJF-3042MkII", "UJF-6042MkII" and "UJF-3042MkII EX".
These new models are available with different printing areas: the UJF-3042MkII e / UJF-3042MkII EX e models have a width of 300mm x depth of 420mm and the UJF-6042MkII e has a width of 610mm x depth of 420mm. Those models support MFD2 (Mimaki Fine Diffusion 2)*1 processing, which controls the position of the dots to improve image quality, resulting in beautiful image quality with reduced graininess. The MFD2 also uses the same staggered head configuration as current models to maintain high productivity even when printing two layers of color and spot colors simultaneously*2. Newly added "Deodorizing unit” can efficiently remove odors, making it more comfortable to use in stores and office environments.
In addition, they incorporate the proprietary NCU (Nozzle Check Unit)*3, NRS (Nozzle Recovery System)*4, and MAPS4 (Mimaki Advanced Pass System4)*5 functions enabling stable output of high-quality prints. Furthermore, “UJF-3042MkII e”, “UJF-6042MkII e”, and “UJF-3042MkII EX e” include support for MDL (Mimaki Device Language) commands*6, allowing for the control of printers from external production systems and peripheral devices, thus enabling automation and labor saving in printing processes such as workpiece transfer.
The new models also incorporate “RasterLink7” as standard RIP software, supporting one-product-at-a-time printing. With this function, numbering and variable data can be easily printed, contributing to reduction in the work time.
The LED-UV curable “UJF-3042MkII e”, “UJF-6042MkII e” and “UJF-3042MkII EX e” offer a wide variation of compatible UV inks, including inkjet primer “PR-200”, which improves the adhesion of UV inks. These models can print on diverse medium including acrylic, leather, wood, metal, and glass. As a result, the printers can print on soft medium such as notebook covers and bags, as well as hard medium including as indoor signs, trophies, stationery, and acrylic key chains. It is Ideal for use in the production of custom goods. The printers are also compatible with direct printing on three-dimensional media up to 153mm thick.

1. Improved image quality by supporting MFD2 (Mimaki Fine Diffusion 2)
Supports MFD2 (Mimaki Fine Diffusion 2) for improved image quality. MFD2 controls the position of the dots to reduce graininess, suppress unintended noise and color irregularities, and enable beautiful prints.
2. Incorporation of the reliable Mimaki technology.
NCU & NRS automatically detects missing nozzles and performs recovery
NCU (Nozzle Check Unit) detects the status of nozzles automatically. When the NCU detects a missing nozzle, it automatically performs cleaning. If cleaning does not solve the problem, NRS (Nozzle Recovery System) automatically replaces the defective nozzles with other nozzles, which enables users to continue their operation without waiting for service personnel.
Since pass boundaries generally become straight, slight misalignment results in banding or uneven color. The “MAPS4 (Mimaki Advanced Pass System 4)” functionality provides gradation to printed pass boundaries and reduces banding and uneven color, achieving a beautiful printing result.
Because printing pass boundaries are faded in gradation, a beautiful image quality is ensured by reducing banding and uneven color.
Banding occurs at pass boundaries. Image quality is damaged seriously because horizontal streaks and uneven color printing are brought about.
3. Connected Digital Printing
Mimaki provides commands allowing the printers to be controlled by customer production systems and peripheral devices. Position and height of the media setting table, the start of printing, and other printer operations are easily controlled using these commands. The commands also allow for the acquisition of the remaining ink level and error information from Mimaki printers.
Regarding the MDL (Mimaki Device Language) command, customers are able to build systems optimized to their individual applications by developing the necessary software using technical information (SDK) provided from Mimaki. The system will contribute to automation and labor saving in customers business.
4. “RasterLink7” supports insert printing of numbering and variable data (Variable print function)
One-product-at-a-time printing(Variable print) is enabled by preparing CSV files defining the variable data and template images so as to specify the insertion position and size on the RasterLink7 software. Numbering setting is also easily specified.
